February 28, 2007

I finally started with the long expected Juan D’Arienzo section, for now just the links and playlist of my favorite TodoTango D’Arienzo songs.

Tanghetto live in Düsseldorf (January 24, 2007)

February 27, 2007

Tanghetto, an Argentine electronic tango band (electrotango, neotango, tango fusion, … whatever you wanna call it), was supposed to come to Belgium for concerts but apparently something went wrong with the organization. So we went to Germany to see them in a small club…

Before the concert we had a beer with the musicians backstage. Very friendly and sympathetic guys. Max (‘brain’) and Diego (guitars) spoke english. If we were tango dancers they expected us to dance during the concert. We didn’t bring our tango shoes but that wouldn’t stop us!

After the break halfway the concert Tanghetto asked the audience to make room in front of the stage for dancers. Only about six couples dared to dance in the very tight space, but it was fun nevertheless.
It was an excellent concert, I had some doubts about the Tanghetto CD’s, but you definitely shouldn’t miss them live!

Here are some clips from the concert:

I updated the video links on my neotango page. New video links added for Gotan Project (a first for the CD Inspiracion/Espiracion), Supervielle, Tango Crash, Otros Aires, and a collection of other bands.

Evocative short tango movie

February 27, 2007

I like this short movie, it evokes “Les Bains” very well. It’s an impression of the closing milonga of the Brussels Tango Festival 2006 at les Bains::Connective.
The music from Narcotango by Carlos Libedinsky together with the faded colors and almost black and white images of the dancers – slow and tired after 5 days of dancing, but they keep dancing because it’s in their nature – really captures the special atmosphere and the feeling of emptiness of this former Art Nouveau swimming pool.

SpaceNavigator – An amazing Google Earth experience!

February 8, 2007

I received my 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator last week, I was lucky, it was the last one they had in stock.
It was very easy to install, and when I tried it in Google Earth… Wow! It’s so easy and intuitive to go wherever you want, fly around through valleys and following roads, zooming in and out, … really very cool! I never want to go back to the mouse for Google Earth.
