Gotan Project and Narcotango 2

October 28, 2006

I added new short reviews of the 3 Gotan Project CD’s “La Revancha del Tango”, “Inspiracion / Espiracion” and “Lunatico” and the great Libedinsky’s “Narcotango 2”.
Writing this somehow reminds of the title of the absolutely great and extemely funny movie “The Big Lebowski” 🙂

October 25, 2006

I updated this blog’s sidebar with links for easy subscription to feeds for All posts, Tango posts and Library posts.
I also rearranged the items and there’s now a Flickr badge with my tango pictures.

Links to music samples for the neotango section

October 22, 2006

I added links to music samples on for the reviews in the neotango section of my tango site. You can recognize them by this icon: tangostore samples icon.
The samples are in RealAudio format, so you will need the RealAudio player, which you probably already have.

New milongas and Google Earth timeline for milongas in Brussels

October 19, 2006

I just added La Tangueria and El Carioca to the tango places in Brussels on my tango website.

I also thought it would be cool to use Google Earth’s timeline feature to see milongas appear and disappear over the years. I already have timespan data for many milongas, you can see Illusion and the legendary l’Argonne appear and disappear and all the new milonga’s of this year like La Cellule 133a and the ones mentioned above. Help is appreciated with dates for other milongas and other cities.

Checkout the kmz of tango places in Brussels . You must be using Google Earth 4 version 4.0.2080 or greater. The timeline will appear in the upper right part of your screen. Minimize the range of the time slider for best effect. Slide it back and forth or use the “play” button to the right of the time slider to play the animation.

Bajofondo and Supervielle reviews added

October 11, 2006

I added 2 reviews to the neotango section of my favorite tango music page. It also has recommendations for classic tango CD’s along with direct links to listen to the music.
I’m listening to a lot of tango music and recently I’m more consciously listening to one artist at a time to expand my knowledge and discover who’s really playing my favorite songs. I intend to update regulary while doing this, my current focus is on D’Arienzo, so expect him to be added in the near future.
